Privacy policy

Fovely is a browser extension that hides videos and web pages that don't fit the goal of your focus session. This policy explains what data Fovely processes, why, and your rights. The short version: Fovely looks at titles only during a focus session, doesn't keep them, doesn't track you, and doesn't sell or share your data for advertising.

What we process
1. Your account
You sign in with Google. We receive your Google account ID, email address, name and profile picture URL, and we store your time zone (set by your browser). We use them to run your account, apply the free daily allowance or Pro, and show your name and picture in the extension. We store only a hashed version of the sign-in token the extension uses; it expires after 90 days without use.

2. Checks during a focus session
While a focus session is running, the extension sends our server your session goal and, for each video or page to check, its title and a few short details: on YouTube the channel name, elsewhere the site's hostname, main heading and meta description. It never sends full URLs, page content or your browsing history, and nothing is sent outside a focus session.
Our server passes this text to Jev, a classification model by TypeSafe AI, run on Cloudflare Workers AI, and returns whether the item fits your goal. We don't store the titles, descriptions or goal, and our logs record only counts and timings, never content. The answers are cached in your browser until you close it.
We do store, per day, how many checks you used (for the free allowance) and how many items were hidden in each broad category such as "entertainment" or "news" (for your weekly report). These counts contain no titles.

3. Focus sessions and progress
When a session ends, the extension reports its start and end time, planned and focused minutes, whether it was completed or strict, and how many items were hidden, stopped, resisted or allowed, and how many breaks you took. We use this for your history, streaks, levels and badges. Sessions don't include your goal.
4. Pro settings
If you use Pro, we store your settings so they work on all your devices: strict by default, your weekly goal, your always-allowed and always-blocked sites, and your scheduled sessions. Scheduled sessions include the goal you typed for them, because the session needs it to start on any device.
5. Payments
Pro is sold by Paddle.com Market Limited, our reseller and Merchant of Record, which handles payment, invoicing, taxes and refunds under its own privacy policy. We never see your card or bank details. We receive and store your Paddle customer and subscription IDs and your subscription's status and period, to turn Pro on and off.
6. Security
To protect the service we limit how often sign-in and payment requests can be made, using your IP address as it passes through Cloudflare; we don't store it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
7. Stored in your browser
The extension keeps your current session, your settings, the answers to recent checks and a copy of your account details in your browser's extension storage. Checks are cached only until the browser closes.

We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we don't sell your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), we cancel any subscription and delete your account, sessions, counts, settings and badges straight away. Paddle keeps records of payments as the law requires. Server logs, which contain no personal content, are deleted after a few days.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Email us at hello@fovely.app. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Wiesbaden (datenschutz.hessen.de).
Google user data
Fovely's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google account details only to sign you in and run your account.
Changes
If we change how Fovely handles data, we'll update this page and the date above, and tell you in the extension if the change matters.
